Briarcliffe College, is an institution of higher education located in suburban Long Island at Bethpage. Among other select professional programs it offers a specialization in animation where students learn to produce professional-level products. Some of the courses students will be taking are digital imaging, page layout, photography, drawing, sculpture for animators, graphic arts production, web design, interactive web, interactive multimedia, animation, CADD, and a senior project, as well as many other related courses.

Briarcliffe College has installed a new specialized animation and CADD studio and will soon be expanding this lab to add a 2D/3D animation production studio. Within these facilities, Briarcliffe expects to work with motion graphic, logos and titles, sports and entertainment graphics, and looks forward to developing a gaming course within this concentration.

The mission of the Associate of Science Degree program in Animation at Brooks College is to provide an intense program that prepares students for entry-level positions in the industry. Built on a firm foundation of drawing skills, sculpting ability and writing techniques, students learn the process of creating 2D and 3D animations for different media. The student is exposed to multiple software programs presented by instructors who are working in the field. Emphasis is placed on developing a professional quality demo reel and industry involvement through internships.

Graduates of the program have the opportunity to work with entertainment, multimedia, real estate, legal, scientific, architecture and education forms in a variety of positions. Some of the job titles available include modeler, assistant animator, lighting specialist, character designer, background artist, effect animator and storyboard artist.

Visual Communications Program

Interactive Media and Web Design Program
Interactive Media and Web Design is the organization, preparation and design of information using interactive technology for web sites, screen savers, instructional CD-ROM, digital video productions, and 3D animation. Graduates of the Interactive Media and Web Design program are prepared for entry-level positions such as web designer, video production assistant, animation assistant, as well as the career of free-lance artist. Bachelor's Degree: The Bachelor of Science in Animation equips students with the skills necessary to enter the field of animation.
